(ISC)² Cyprus Chapter proudly organises a 2 hour educational web seminar as follows:
Date and Time: 14th July 2020 17:45 – 20:00
Agenda:
17:45 – 18:00: Registration and Connection Test (connection details to follow)
18:00 – 18:40: The National CSIRT-CY
by Andreas Iacovou, who joined the National Computer Security Incident Response Team as an analyst in October 2017. He holds a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, and a Masters degree in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London. During his career, Andreas worked as an engineer for Apple Inc. and as a security engineer for Gemalto. As a security analyst and team coordinator for the National CSIRT-CY, he, among others, is responsible for incident handling, incident analysis, incident resolution, reporting and threat intelligence.
Presentation Summary:
National CSIRT-CY envisions the increase of the security posture of The Republic of Cyprus by enhancing cyber protection of its National Critical Information Infrastructures (CII), banks and ISPs. National CSIRT-CY coordinates and assists CII owners/administrators, banks and ISPs to ensure the existence of (at least) a minimum level of security, by implementing proactive and reactive security services to reduce the risks of network information and cyber security incidents, as well as respond to such incidents as and when they occur. This presentation will outline and describe the services (proactive and reactive services) offered by the National CSIRT-CY to its constituency and how the organisation analyses and reacts to security incidents.
18:40 – 19:20: Frontier – battle stories and lessons from IR
by Yuri Kramarz and Giannis Tziakouris
Yuri is a Senior Incident Response consultant. For over a decade he has been dedicated to both offensive and defensive security across a number of different sectors. His experience stretches from leading global red team and penetration testing engagements in Europe, the US and Japan to responding to major data breaches and security incidents in the Gulf region. He has worked on securing SCADA/OT environments as well as responding to incidents involving the same technology. He is also an active security researcher with over forty publicly disclosed vulnerabilities across different technology stacks.
Giannis acquired extensive knowledge in Cyber security through his work at Cisco Talos, providing IR consulting in Asia; at INTERPOL, leading the Cyberspace and New Technologies Lab; and his academic research on self-adaptive security for his Ph.D. His work has been published in research venues such as the IEEE Security & Privacy, the IEICE transactions, ACM Computing Surveys, IEEE HPCC and IEEE Cloud.
Presentation Summary:
Yuri will embark on an Incident Responder journey, touching upon the common causes, methodologies and practices surrounding the incident response life-cycle. They will start by describing common challenges and remedies from an empirical standpoint before moving onto incident scaling and hunting activities.
