18:10 – 18:50: GDPR CERTIFICATION STATE OF PLAY & EUROPEAN STANDARDS
The General Data Protection Regulation seeks to encourage, at EU level, the demonstration by organizations of their compliance with the provisions of the GDPR. This, among others, is set out in articles 42 and 43 of the GDPR, which provide for a certification scheme as an accountability tool to be introduced. The presentation will offer insight to the ongoing preparatory actions by the EDPB and National DPAs towards the materialization of GDPR certification schemes, what they would cover, when such schemes are scheduled to be available and how the European Standardization Organizations (CEN & CENELEC) are developing standards to support this process as well as the maturity of entities planning to pursue such a certification scheme.

The presentation will focus on the delivery of essential knowledge regarding the most common cloud threats that are observed, and that can cause major impact to an organization’s integrity and availability. Moreover, current frameworks describing best practices and approaches to assurance will be presented to further increase awareness and security posture.
